Thoughts on Technology - Chirag Shah
Part of a Student series looking at student views/voice on technology use in District 230
Technology in the classroom expands the learning experience. In the classroom, we have spoken to people from other countries (Spain, Costa Rica, etc.) through Skype. We also consistently listen to podcasts to improve our listening skill for Spanish. Technology has bettered my experience in the classroom.

I thoroughly enjoy tech in school. It expands the learning experience and allows students to find answers to questions when either our teacher is not available or the teacher does not know the answer off the top of their head. Also, the use of Google Drive in school provides easy collaboration with my classmates while also allowing for the easy continuation of work at home.
In class, we are currently creating a video for our pen-pals around the world. We are using the functionality of Google Drive, our phones, and Chromebooks to create a 30-45 minute video of us touring Sandburg and Chicago. The video is amazing, it allows for a cultural interaction on an immense scale as we will be able to receive video responses touring our pen-pals’ lives and cities.
However, with the immensity of technology there comes a drawback: it does not always work. Also, sometimes the teacher cannot figure out how to do something and we, as students, have to help them figure it out. Knowing that we are all learning this together has helped in the process. But overall, technology is very useful in the classroom.CHIRAG SHAH
